Students in grades K-5 receive daily instruction in the core content areas of:
All students also receive daily foreign language instruction in Hebrew.
All students have classes taught by our specialist teachers multiple times per week. These include:
Students participate in Torah Study multiple times per week. Torah study at The Newman School weaves together the skills of reading texts carefully, the understanding that these stories are our people’s central tales, and the task of making a personal connection to the stories. Torah study will be in English, using the Everett Fox translation of the Torah.
Students will also participate in daily T’fillah (prayer). This practice provides an opportunity for a person to connect to oneself, community, and God. Students’ daily experience of prayer will vary. It is our hope that by providing this environment, our students will realize how to be a blessing to themselves, to their families, to their people, and ultimately to the world.
